Curtiss Henry Lasserre, age 85, of Fernandina Beach passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Warner Center for Caring. He was the youngest and last living child born to the late Charles William and Freda Louise Nagel Lasserre and one of the fourth generation of Lasserres From Fernandina.

He was a graduate of Class of 1950 from Fernandina Beach High School. After high school Mr. Lasserre attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta from where he graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and participated in the Navy ROTC Program which enabled him to enter the U.S. Navy as an Officer. Upon being honorably discharged he returned home to Fernandina and joined the family business that had been formed by his father in 1910; Lasserre Motor Company. With the future of the south end of Amelia Island being contemplated, Curtiss became involved and was partly responsible for rescuing that portion of the island from being strip mined and preserving it for the use that is enjoyed today. He soon became a licensed Realtor and a real estate broker and began a long career in the real estate industry.

In 1978 he opened Curtiss H. Lasserre Real Estate which has helped many new and old Fernandina Beach residents fulfill their dreams of owning an island home over the past 40 years.

Mr. Lasserre was a founding member of the Amelia Island � Nassau County Association of Realtors where he served as the first sitting President.

He and his family have been lifelong members of St. Peter�s Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach.

Curtiss enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his dog, Bingo.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Courson Lasserre; his brothers, Elmer Eugene Lasserre and his wife Joan Stier and Charles William Lasserre II; his sister, Freda Louise Lasserre; a son, Curtiss Henry Lasserre, Jr.; and a niece, Carmen Nylund.

He leaves behind two sons, Charles William Lasserre, III, Fernandina Beach, FL , Jon Courson Lasserre and his wife, Jennifer, Fernandina Beach, FL; former daughter-in-law, Julie Anna Lasserre � Adams of Hilliard, FL; grandchildren; Kasie Anna Lasserre of Dallas, TX, Curtiss Jared Lasserre of Jacksonville, FL, Addison Dawn Lasserre of Fernandina Beach, FL, Andrew Courson Lasserre of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Charles William Lasserre, IV of Fernandina Beach, FL; and nieces, Julie Lasserre of Los Osos, California, Judith Lasserre � Handel of Huntsville, Alabama and Katrina Lee Nylund � Portwood of Durham, North Carolina; and Sister-in-law, Rowena Courson Nylund of Columbia, South Carolina.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Peter�s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Stephen Mazingo, officiating.

Mr. Lasserre will be laid to rest beside his wife in Bosque Bello Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 � 7:00 pm at Oxley Heard.
