Dale Alan Lucas, 61, of Fernandina Beach passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Warner Center for Caring with his wife and family at his side.

He was born at Ft. Benning, GA as was the son of Annie Ruth Crews Krauss and the late Charles Victor Lucas.

After graduating from High School he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served honorarily for 8 years. After serving he went to work for what is now WestRock and continued there for 30 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and his Florida Gators.

In additon to his father he was predeceased by his step-father, Joseph Krauss and a brother, Charles Lucas, II and a sister, Penny Roe.

He leaves behind his wife, Bernadette Lucas; his mother, Annie Ruth Krauss; five step-sons, Michael (Amber) Andrews, Richard Jones, Joshua (Amanda) Jones, Keith Jones, Brandon Jones; his brothers and sisters, Wade Lucas, Joseph (Amanda) Krauss, Debbie (Ron) Gay, Cheryl Drew, Patti (Jack) Paulk, Susan Bird, Brenda Taylor and Robin Taylor as well as 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews as well as many friends and his co-workers at West Rock. He will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 27 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
He will be laid to rest, with Military Honors, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.

The family and friends will gather at 86046 Robin Road, Yulee after the service at the National Cemetery.
