Dan Eugene "Doc" Stallings

Dan Eugene “Doc” Stallings, 83, of Yulee, Florida went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Doc was born on March 9, 1938, to the late John Henry and Emma Thornton Stallings in Surrency, Ga and was raised in Baxley, Ga. Doc moved to Yulee in 1956 to work at Terminal Paper Bag Company and worked there until he retired in 1997. It was at Terminal Bag that he met his wife of fifty years Joyce Smith. They married on February 8, 1957, in Kingsland, Georgia and had four children.
Doc was an avid hunter, fisherman, sports fan and most of all a farmer. He loved planting vegetables and sharing them with family and friends. He enjoyed playing softball, bluegrass music, Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and playing the slots in Biloxi, Mississippi and Cherokee, North Carolina.
He is predeceased by his wife Joyce (2007) and son Roger (1967).
Survivors include his daughters, Maxine Ley (Bill) of Lawrenceville, Ga, Theresa Stallings, and Angie Lee (Ray) of Yulee, FL. Grandchildren, April Stavely (Adam) of Monroe, Ga., Adam Ley of Athens, Ga., Rebecca Wright (Michael) and Rachel Totzke (Hunter) of Yulee, FL. Great-Grandchildren, Carter Ley, Brooklyn, Phoenix, and Memphis Stavely, Kimberlynn Love, and baby girl Keelynn Wright due in July. Sister, Shirley Ely of Jacksonville, FL, brothers, Curtis “Bubba” Stallings (Linda) of Baxley, Ga. and Harry “Billy” Stallings (Vivian) of Alma, Ga. Brother-in-law Hubert Smith (Nan) of Yulee, FL., numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his beloved cows.
Pallbearers will be Adam Ley, Adam Stavely, Hunter Totzke, Michael Wright, Mike Crider and Donald Burch.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Ley, Ray Lee, Hubert Smith, James Crider, JW Williams and Aaron Rawls.
A visitation will be held at the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM.
A funeral service will also be held at the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM with his nephew, Rev. Curtis Crider officiating.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Hughes’ Cemetery in Yulee.
