Dana Lee Helman

Dana Lee Helman, 42, of Fernandina Beach passed away at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville.

Dana was born in Lincoln, NE and was a son of the late Marvin Lee Helman and Marcia Rae Helman.

Dana was raised in the Catholic faith. After high school he attended the University of Florida and graduated from the University of South Carolina with his Bachelor�s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Dana moved to Fernandina Beach over 10 years ago. He worked as an Engineer with the Haskell Company. Dana truly enjoyed his work. He worked on several large projects over his career and was named �Young Engineer of the Year�. When not at work, Dana was an avid �Gamer� who enjoyed many games but especially RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons.

Dana lost his father, who was his role model, in 2013. Dana was always especially proud of his father�s service to his country and his combat role in Vietnam. He enjoyed his father�s stories about his service and proudly shared them with friends and family.

Dana leaves behind his mother, Marcia Helman of Lincoln, NE; his brother David Helman and his wife, Renee of Morrisville, NC; his nieces, Skye and Leah Helman also of Morrisville; his fianc�, Erika Barker of Jacksonville, FL; an uncle, Ken Rener and his wife, Daveen of Lincoln, NE and a close friend he regarded as his sister, Melissa Lahrs of Ridgeway, SC.

Dana will be laid to rest in part of a family graveside service at Bosque Bello Cemetery.

The family asks that you remember Dana by making a donation, in his name, to the Wounded Warrior Project, Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.

Dana was a good person, fun loving, caring and of great spirit. He loved life and had a good sense of humor too. He was an exceptionally talented engineer and always helpful and happy to be part of our team. He will be missed.

Dana will always be remembered for his boundless energy and enthusiasm. He was dedicated to his team and was always excited about each new project to share his talents. One of his clients commented on his �customer focused excellence�and his commitment to to accepting and overcoming any challenge�. His last challenge was in God�s hands, where Dana will now peacefully be. He will be missed, but not forgotten, by all who knew him.

I to will miss Dana. I had the pleasure of working on a couple of projects with Him. He truly was an engineer who enjoyed his work. May the Lord be with Dana and his family.

Dana was such an awesome person. I always looked forward to getting advise and help from him at work. He was extremely smart, fun and such an interesting person to interact with. He will be greatly missed. In the short time I knew him, I learned a lot from him and will cherish those memories.

David and family and Erika and friends � we are so sorry for your loss. I am a cousin of Dana�s Mom and our family really enjoyed talking with Dana at family events in Nebraska over the years. He was so easy to talk to and had a quick fun style that reminded me of his Mom! Most recently I enjoyed hearing some of his antics about growing up�.. he is truly missed.

Dana was a diligent engineer with a keen eye for detail and deep enthusiasm for his work. He had a skip in his step and was always willing to help solve problems. He was a kind and gentle soul that will be missed on this earth.

Dana was truly dedicated to his mechanical profession and was always willing to go beyond what was expected by his clients. He was a big reason for the many successes Haskell had while he was there. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Dana was such an incredible man, he was very smart, generous, and caring. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Dana will always be in my heart and in the heart of all the people that loved him. He is a bright shinning star in the sky now.

We were neighbors of Dana�s family in South Carolina and watched him grow up�He was always a joyful, polite young man who dearly loved his family and friends.. He will be dearly missed.. Goodbye sweet Dana and God bless ..
