Dana Rene Anderson

Mrs. Dana Rene Anderson, age 64, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 on Gainesville, FL.
Born in Gainesville, she was one of three children born to Leatrice Velma Benefield Hilliard and the late Benjamin Russell Hilliard. Dana grew up in Gainesville and was a graduate of Gainesville High School, Class of 1969. After high school she married her high school sweetheart, James Everett Anderson. The newlyweds lived in Germany for a time as her husband fulfilled his obligation to the Unites States Army. Upon his being discharged, they returned home to Gainesville and Mrs. Anderson raised their two sons while her husband pursued his career as a commercial and residential Electrician. In 1977 the Anderson�s moved to Fernandina Beach where her husband worked for Container Corporation of America. As their sons grew older Mrs. Anderson worked as a Dental Office Receptionist for Dr. Cook and Dr. Johnson before joining the staff at Janet Lynn Salon.
Mrs. Anderson was an avid collector of lamps, figurines and most recently photographs of her grandchildren. She enjoyed painting items to be used for decorating her home and loved surprising her family will rearranged rooms and home decor.
Since childhood she had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville until moving to Fernandina Beach when she and her husband joined Springhill Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her sister, Becky Reynolds.
She leaves behind, her husband of 46 years, James Anderson, Fernandina Beach, FL, her mother, Leatrice Hilliard-Sweat, Gainesville, FL, her two sons, Scott Anderson, Charlottesville, VA, Rusty Anderson and his wife, Sharon, Lawtey, FL, her brother, Ronnie Hilliard (Laurie Hilliard), St. Augustine, FL, five grandchildren, Hannah, Shelby, Collin, Jensen and J.R., nieces and nephews, Michael, Connie, Justin and Bree.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Springhill Baptist Church with Reverend Jackie Hayes, officiating.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, at the church, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
