David I. Weiss, 69, of Fernandina Beach, Florida and formerly of Westport, CT, passed away on March 31, 2016 near his home in Florida. David was born November 6, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio. He spent his youth years in Cleveland and Florida before serving in the Navy on the USS WRIGHT. After his service, he moved to New York and attended NYU. He spent a successful career as a business manager in the technology industry, working for Satellite Business Systems and then IBM while living in Westport, CT for more than 30 years. After retiring from IBM, he moved to Fernandina Beach, FL where he enjoyed reading, golfing and spending time with close friends. David was a Mason, founder of SPIRITS and a friend of Bill W.

David is survived by two sisters, Cynthia Weiss of California and Judy Weiss Wootten of Florida. Although he had no children or grandchildren of his own, he is also survived by Jennifer and Jeffrey Martin and their children, Mason and Kate of Fairfield, CT whom he considered family. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Westport, CT on Saturday, May 7th at 10am. A celebration of life service will also be held in Fernandina Beach, FL at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David�s name to a recovery program of your choice.
