David John Evans, Sr.

David John Evans, Sr., age 75, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on February 5, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Agnes Rose (Ruderer) Evans and Elmer Ellsworth Evans, II.

Mr. Evans, better known as Dave, enlisted in the US Navy and served honorably for 28 years. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 and then began working at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. While with Electric Boat he transferred to Kings Bay, GA and settled in Fernandina Beach, FL. He retired from Electric Boat after 20 years.

Dave was a member of the Masonic Lodge 401 in Goose Creek, SC, the Amelia Lodge #47 and the American Legion Post #54 in Fernandina Beach.

He was a great cook, loved restoring old cars and building model airplanes and submarines. He was a man of great honor and strength and he was deeply and profoundly devoted to his wife, family and country.

He is predeceased by a sister, Joyce Evans Miller.

Dave is survived by the love of his life, Jeannine Levesque Evans, children; David Evans, Jr. and fianc�e Toni Hogeman-Hall, Christopher Evans, Mark Evans, Sr. and wife Lisa Evans, Brian Shull, Dawn Grant-Muller and husband Jimmy Muller, Stephanie Mooney and husband Bill Mooney, Steven Smith and wife Hulya Smith, Kay Mead and husband Dave Mead, brother, Dan Evans, sister, Joan Evans Smith, grandchildren; Brandon Evans, Ashley Evans, Mark Evans, Jr., Trent Evans, Laci Shull, Chandler Grant, Charlie Grant, William Mooney, Zoey Mooney, Cody Mooney, Billy Mooney, Christy Henderson-Fontes, Chelsey Smith, Whitni Smith, Paul Hall and Kayla Hall.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard with Chaplain Jackie Hayes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service.
