I'll cherish my memories of David forever. From impromptu conversations when he took a rare break from the kitchen at Union Hill Grill to dinners and visits with he and my dear friend Beth. I am so grateful Eric and I were able to visit with he and Beth last year in Amelia. Beth, my heart breaks for you as I send lots of love and big hugs your way during these challenging times.

I have so many memories at the wonderful eateries that David and Beth created! One (among many) was the time my wife Ann and I ate dinner at the Silos Grill. We were goo goo eyed, enjoying after dinner wine. The place was slammed (as usual)… Beth came to our table and gave us a credit to give up our table and move to the bar ! And the time I went to Silos before they opened. Beth was sitting at bar working on menus for their opening. She told me their opening was a few days away. Needless to say the rest is a great history ! God bless them both!

David Michael Riordan, 66, of Fernandina Beach, FL, unexpectedly passed away at his home on July 19, 2025.
He was born in Auburn, NY in 1959 to Raymond and Charlotte Riordan, the fifth of their nine children. David attended Holy Family School and Auburn High School where he played football and basketball before studying at Arizona State University.
In his early years, David learned the restaurant business by working with his parents and siblings at the family’s restaurant, Riordan’s. After college, David followed his brothers to Palm Beach where he honed his skills by working in some of Palm Beach’s most exclusive restaurants. Eventually, he followed his brothers to Atlanta, where David worked in some of Atlanta’s most acclaimed restaurants. During this time he met his wife, Beth, who also had a career in the hospitality industry. In 1994, they eloped to Lake Tahoe which was the beginning of a long partnership. In 2000, they opened their first restaurant, Silos Grill, which quickly became a successful neighborhood favorite. Over the next 15 years they opened 5 more restaurants. Their pride and joy, Crabapple Tavern, will celebrate its 20th anniversary this fall.
In 2022, Beth and David retired and moved to an ocean front home on Amelia Island where they are surrounded by many cherished friends and a beautiful quaint community with old live oak trees, historic homes and beautiful beaches. They would have celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary in August.
