David Owen Miller
2020-01-27
David Owen Miller 81, resident of Amelia Island, FL passed away peacefully with family around him on January 24, 2020 after a long and brave struggle with Parkinsons disease for many years.
David was born November 25, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to Rev. John and Carolyn Miller. He attended North High School, and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Agriculture. He is survived by Theresa, his wife of 30 years, and their blended families consisting of 5 adult children (Greg, Julie, John, Kathleen and Trayci), 10 grandchildren, brother Bob, sister Jane and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Daves earliest beginnings were humble as he learned farming. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged. Daves passion for farming led to a business venture with his cousin, Jim Owen, and the two of them planted and harvested sweet corn, strawberries, pumpkins and at one time potatoes which was known as Owens Potato Farm, Inc. aka The Berry Barn located off of Sharon Valley Road in Newark, Ohio. Dave served on many boards including the National Cooperative Business Association, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, American Farm Bureau Federation, Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Association, and Nationwide Insurance Company and was director of Landmark, Inc., and Cooperative Business International. In addition, he was recognized internationally for his work in Agricultural co-ops.
Dave loved OSU sports, playing golf, skiing, boating, horse racing and traveling; he never knew a stranger, played a mean hand of Euchre. Dave lived by and followed the Golden Rule every day of his life.
Daves impact was felt through his kindness, generosity and genuineness and will be missed and cherished by his friends and loved ones forever.
A celebration of life service will be held in Ohio at a later date.
His family asks that donations be made to Community Hospice of N.E. Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257 or The American Parkinson Association at www.apdaparkinson.org

Teresa. Please accept Pams and my heartfelt sympathy for the passing of your wonderful husband Dave. We didnt get to know yall very well, but you were about my favorite folks in our Rock Steady Boxing group. Dave really impressed me due to his strength, his smile, and his apparent absolute absence of fear of falling. He just drove forward full speed almost no matter what the circumstances. Which, Im pretty sure must have caused you untold frustration, trying to keep him safe. And you have my admiration and respect for the manner in which you stuck to Dave like glue at Rock Steady Boxing. Dave can rest in peace now and, hopefully, so can you, knowing you were the best caregiver ever to your wonderful husband.

I met Dave at Rock Steady. Theresa and Dave were always there together. She was his guardian angel and now he will be hers. He was determined and not afraid of a challenge. He had many, but managed to smile and persevere. He was a real role model and will be missed. It was truly a pleasure to know Dave. May the dear Lord be with you all.

BUNNY SMITHSON-SOLOMON (AMELIA HAIR SALON) February 16, 2020
David Miller was one of my favorite clients. He was a very special, he loved to have good conversations with me. I sometimes would tease him and he would always have a smile on his face. He was very generous to me his (Barber). He had a flat tire once at the salon and we got him all fixed up so his wife Tereasa would worry about him, for he was a little fragile at that time. I will miss David, however just happy thoughts for me about him. Rest in Gods arms David.
