David W. Freeman

David William Freeman passed peacefully away on June 11, 2019 at Baptist Hospital Jacksonville, FL, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 26, 1938 in Green Cove Springs, Florida his family moved to Fernandina Beach around 1940. He was the a son of the late Ernest �Bill� and Ann Lee Butler Freeman.

David graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1958. He served in the Navy from June 13, 1958 to December 30, 1976. In his term of service, he protected our country in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. Upon retirement, he returned to Fernandina Beach in 1977.

David was an honorable, kind and generous man who loved to meet and talk with people. He was a loving anchor for his family throughout his life. He will be missed.

David was predeceased by his parents Ernest �Bill� Freeman and Ann Lee Butler Freeman, two brothers, Donald and Patrick Freeman and sister, Bernandine Freeman Eleazer.

David leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Eleanor Szalewski Freeman; a son, Kevin Freeman of Fernandina Beach; his daughters Sherri Freeman O�Brien and her spouse, Ken, of Ocoee, Florida, Lisa Freeman of Orlando, Florida and Amy Freeman Johnson and her spouse Michael of Fenandina Beach, Florida; his brothers Alton Freeman and Stephen Freeman of Fernandina Beach, Florida; a sister Mary Kay Freeman Johns and her spouse, George, of Fernandina Beach, Florida and two loving granddaughters, AnnaLee Johnson and Kaitlyn O�Brien as well as several extended family members.

A service to remember David�s life will held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley � Heard Funeral Directors.

He will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery.

The family asks memorial donations be made to a Veterans charity of your choice in his memory.
