Debra Ilene Hunter

Debra Ilene Hunter, 73 of Brooker, Florida, passed away on April 23, 2015, at Community Hospice, Fernandina Beach, Florida, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Debra was born on November 3, 1951, in Lake City, Florida, to the late Leo Kenneth Hunter and Helen Ruth Harris. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Columbia High School in 1970. After graduation, she married Ronnie Miller in 1971.
After they were married, they moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida. Over a period of time, they welcomed seven children into their home. Debra’s main ambition was to bring children into the world. She achieved the full measure of her creation.
Debra loved to sew. She made dresses for all her girls and enjoyed quilting with unique and personalized designs for her children. She was also a great cook in the Southern style. Among her talents was playing the saxophone and leading music in church.
Debra moved to Brooker in 2020. She was an active member of the Starke Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Relief Society.
Debra is predeceased by her son Eric, her brother Kenneth, her niece Sherrill, her parents, Leo and Helen Hunter, her Paternal Grandparents, McCalpin (Mack) Onnie Opal Hunter, and her Maternal Grandparents, Sylvester and Rose Harris, who greeted her as she passed beyond the veil.
She leaves behind her sister, Judy Flanagan of Brooker, Fl.; daughters, Lora (Lawrence) O’Mara of Norfolk, Va.; April Oliver of Jacksonville; Amy Ebenal of Fernandina Beach and Holly (Corey) Brown of Waycross, Ga. and two sons, Adam and Chris Miller, both of Fernandina Beach. Debra was the grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Kaya, Eric, Chance, Rhiannon, Ian, Sydney, Shade, Julia, Ezra, Jacob, and Iris, and two great-grandchildren: Xander and Olivia. A host of nephews, nieces, and her beloved dogs, Buddy, Peaches and Sweet Pea, also survived her.
A graveside service will be held at Bosque Bello Cemetery in Fernandina Beach. She will be laid to rest beside her son, Eric.
