Delores was in my employ at The Nassau County Record during the 1980’s. She was an excellent employee and friend. I’m so sorry to hear of her death. Delores was liked and trusted by everyone she met.

Delores Doyle

On June 13, 2022, Delores Doyle, 82, of Yulee, after a brief stay at the Warner Hospice Care Center in Fernandina, passed away.
Delores was born on March 7, 1940. She was the second of four children born to Mary Thelma and Stephen B. Swearingen in Jacksonville, Florida.
She was employed through the years by the Nassau County Record newspaper in Callahan as Advertising Manager and was on the Nassau County Fire and Rescue staff in Fernandina Beach. She was also employed at Front and Center Gift Shop in Fernandina and the Nassau County Sheriff’s crossing guard team at Yulee Middle School at the time of her death.
Delores’s interest included her love for gardening, cooking and singing. At one time she sang in the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach choir. In addition, she was an avid Gator fan and she loved animals, especially cats and doggies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two of her siblings, Tim Swearingen who was known around Callahan as “The Battery Man”, and another brother, the Reverend Bert C. Swearingen and one of her sons, Troy Doyle and his father, Bob Doyle.
She leaves behind by her other son, Charles Hugh Simmons, Jr., his four daughters, one son, and his father, Charles Hugh Simmons all of whom reside in California. In addition, she leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her brother Toby Swearingen of Jacksonville, her close cousin, Diane Rosenberg of Yulee, her sister-in-law, Barbara Swearingen of Fernandina, several grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, beginning at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Dr. Karl Kling will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
She will be laid to rest with her family at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
