The title of "The Best Nana" goes to you, because you showed me what a true great grandparent would do for you. You turned me into the person I am today, you pushed me to my best because you knew my limits. Yes I did get upset at it but in the end I took every word into consideration. I remember all of our moments together, like when we used to color and play doctor, when we went to the military base and out to eat. Just the simplest things I remembered because all of it meant so much to me. The way you would spoil me wild with whatever I wanted, you gave me a rememberable childhood even if I didn't savor it while it happened because I didn't think it would end so quickly. I miss you every minute of everyday and who knows how long that will last. You were amazing to me and sometimes I wish I treated you better, but I cant go back now can I? Words can't describe my love I had for you, I was never good at expressing it but you made me want to. I love you Nana and I miss you so much.

The way you loved your family and God made an impact on my life. Your grandson Dalton loves and depended on you more than anyone else and from a very young age he was one of my bestfriends with a heart of gold and because of him, you and your family accepted me and my brother Tyler as your own and I’ll forever cherish that.

Sweet Leone, I have so many memories, growing up with my BEST friend Carla and living right next door and practically at your house on 6 th street. I will always picture you in your jeans and those Candi high heel shoes. So many memories pop up, the Thanksgiving that you cut your hand open on the can and had to get stitches. Not sure why that comes to mind. You never complained too much about having to take or pick up Carla and I from the skating rink. You were always so kind and gentle, soft spoken, I don’t think I EVER heard you yell or raise your voice. You will be missed by so many 💜rest easy we will see you again.

Jerry Allison and Family

Sending our sincere condolences, heavy in hearts, we will treasure our memories of beautiful Leone.

Demarious "Leone" Griffis

2026-02-05

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Demarious “Leone” Allison Griffis on Thursday, February 5, 2026. However, we rejoice in knowing that because she accepted Christ as a young girl, now she is eternally in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Leone was born on June 22, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama, to Charles Leon Allison and Julia Demarious Adams Allison. They later moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Minden, Louisiana and Hilliard, Florida. She worked alongside her daddy, brothers and sisters in the family restaurants, “The Stateline Drive-in” and “The Red Pig.” She became a great cook and loved making everyone’s favorite dishes and comfort meals.

Leone had a strong work ethic throughout her life, working at Container Corporation for many years before focusing on her favorite role as “Nana” to many biological and chosen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many of them credit Nana with telling them about Jesus, teaching them special songs, and how to fish and drive. She enjoyed watching sports on television, reading cookbooks, hosting large family reunions and shopping for gifts for others. She and her oldest daughter, Lisa, became more like best friends, talking to each other more than ten times a day, every day.

Leone was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Leo; son, Steven Allison; grandsons, David Parker and Dalton Feuerborn; sisters, June DiPolito and Pam Allison Todd; brother, Hud Allison; son-in-law, Buddy Hall and brother-in-law, Tom Adcock. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Hall and Carla Davis (Michael); grandchildren, Allison, Graison and Ellis Davis; and great-grandchildren, Daton Parker and Kami Feuerborn. Also remaining to cherish her memory are sisters, Pat Adcock, Jane Allison and Linda Hubert; brothers, Bobby (Sherri) Migues, Jerry (Annette) Allison and Mike (Christy) Allison; brother-in-law, Sam DiPolito; treasured niece, Gina DiPolito and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Leone’s big heart fostered many friendships wherever God planted her. Leone will be sorely missed but leaves many fond memories in the hearts of her loved ones.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public memorial service. Leone asked instead that those who loved her remember the joyful moments and cherish the memories they shared with her. As a member of the First Assembly of God in Fernandina for many years, Leone was a devoted believer in the Lord and a living example of Christ’s love and faithfulness to everyone around her. Her enduring wish was that all remain faithful to the Lord and take good care of one another. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
