Ann was a wonderful woman and was part of our educational team. She was the best bus driver for my students. My sympathies to her family and friends.

So very sorry to see that Ann had passed, I first met her when she was a bus driver and I was keeping a disabled child, who absolutely loved getting on her bus. And throughout the years I would go by the house and talk to her and peanut. We would talk about things and laugh and I think the last time I saw both of your parents together at Walmart and we stopped and talked. Praying for the family and I know what losing your mother feels like, but we have a promise that we can see them again through Jesus Christ.

With profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Derema Ann Stephens, who entered into the presence of the Lord at the age of 80. She was gently called home by God after a courageous journey through the late stages of dementia. While the disease gradually took away her memory, it never lessened the impact she had on the hearts of those who knew her.
Born on 6/20/1946 in Jacksonville, Florida. Ann devoted her life to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Stephens, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a home filled with laughter, steadfast support, and cherished memories that continue to live on through their family.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ann found her greatest joy in her family. She was a constant source of encouragement, gentle wisdom, and strength. Whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time with those she treasured, she made every moment meaningful.
For 33 years, Ann faithfully served her community as a school bus driver, transporting special education students with exceptional patience, care, and dedication. She understood that her responsibility extended beyond driving a bus—she provided a safe and comforting presence for children and families who depended on her each day. Her service touched countless lives, and she retired knowing she had made a lasting difference.
Though dementia gradually changed the course of her final years, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now free from pain, confusion, and suffering. They are deeply grateful that her final moments were peaceful, spent in the comfort of her own home and surrounded by care. Her family can rejoice in the promise that she has been welcomed into her eternal home, where her mind is restored and she is reunited with her beloved husband.
Although our hearts are heavy with loss, we celebrate a life marked by steadfast devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in every lesson she taught, every life she touched, and every heart that was blessed to know her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
Celebration of life will be Saturday, July 25th 2026. The service will be held at 97160 Glen St Yulee, Fl 32097.
