Diane Henderson

Mrs. Diane E. Henderson, age 65, of Yulee, FL passed away on Monday morning, July 24, 2017 at her home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the middle of three children born to the late Floyd Herbert Parsons and Dolores Emile Wickward. As a teenager her family moved to Atlantic Beach, FL where she graduated from Fletcher High School. While living in Atlantic Beach she met, James Hardy Henderson, a sailor stationed at Mayport Naval Station. After high school they married and made their first home in Atlantic Beach. Her husband eventually received orders to Kings Bay Naval Station which allowed the family to move to Yulee. The Hendersons remained in Yulee where they raised their two children. Since settling in Nassau County, Mrs. Henderson has worked as a Census Taker with the U.S. Census Bureau.

She and her husband had been longtime members of Yulee United Methodist Church where Mrs. Henderson was the former Choir Director, Youth Group Director and a member of the Red Hat Ladies.

She enjoyed delivering singing telegrams for which she earned the name of �Red Hot Mama�. As a wife and mother, she coveted her time with family and friends, singing and Bingo at the Yulee Lions Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 2012 and a brother Floyd Parsons.

Mrs. Henderson leaves behind her son, Nathan Henderson (Marie), her daughter, Kristina Henderson (Manessa), all of Yulee, FL a brother, Skip Parsons, AZ, a grandson, Jackson Gilpin, a nephew, J. T. and a niece, Michelle.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Yulee United Methodist Church with Reverend Charlie Sward, officiating.

The Red Hat Ladies will serve as and be recognized as Honorary Pallbearers

Mrs. Henderson will be laid to rest with her husband in Jacksonville National Cemetery,

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the church, from 10:00 am until the hour of service
