Donald D. “Outlaw” Johnson, 88, of Yulee passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at his home.
Born in Pierce County, Georgia he was a son of the late Haywood and Allie Tillman Johnson. He married his wife, Winnie King Johnson, in 1966 and they moved to Nassau County shortly thereafter.
Mr. Johnson retired from WestRock after many years’ service as an Engineer in the Powerhouse. His family will always remember him as a great provider and a good companion for Winnie who took care of things around the home.
Always loving the outdoors, he was an avid hunter who also loved fishing and working in his garden. He was faithful in his membership at Blackrock Baptist Church and will be remembered around town for signature cowboy hat and boots. He always wore them wherever he went.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Winnie in 2014 as well as his brothers, Malcolm, Arnold and Doyce.
He leaves behind his children, Sherry Parrott of Middleburg, Joanne (Rob) Mastroianni of Kingsland, GA, Donna Atkins of Yulee and Kathy (Dana) Hannaford of Fernandina Beach; his 9 grandchildren, Haydon Hannaford, Zach Hannaford, Allie Atkins, Seth Atkins, Tyler Harden, Molly Smith, Dlorah Richardson, Michele Jewell and Lester Parrott, Jr.; 7 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held Monday, June 1, 2026 beginning at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor John Kasper officiating. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service.
He will be laid to rest with his wife at Green Pine Cemetery.
