Mrs. Dorothy Angeline Johnson, 100, of Fernandina Beach passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach.

A daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Douglas Swails, she was born in Julian, PA.

In her younger life she was a telephone operator during World War II. After the war she began what would be a 46-year career with General Electric. She retired as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed bowling in the GE league. In her later years she took up golf and thoroughly enjoyed it.

She was married to the late Bernard Lyle “Bernie” Johnson for over 46 years. He passed away in 1995. In 2005 she moved to Fernandina Beach to be near family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Johnson is predeceased by two sisters, Florence Fogelson and Sarah C. Fleming; three brothers, Joseph F. Swails, Russell R. Swails and John I. Swails as well as a grandson, Todd A. Johnson.

She leaves behind her son and his wife, Gary and Darla Johnson of Fernandina Beach; two sisters, Thelma Keener and Edith Adams, both of Ohio and a grandson, Lyle G. Johnson of Tamarac, Florida as well as extended family of nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Johnson will be returned to Ohio where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
