Dorothy Corbin Lovequist

Celebration of Life has begun for Dorothy Arlene Corbin Lovequist who passed to her heavenly home on Friday, May 7, 2021.
She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada to Roland W. Corbin and Maude Hattie Vaughn Corbin on Friday, August 13, 1926, the eighth of nine children and the youngest daughter.
The family moved from Canada four years later to White Plains, NY where she became a majorette and graduated High school as the Class Secretary in 1944.
She married her high school sweetheart, Ray Carl Fredolf Lovequist on June 21, 1947 and moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida where they raised five children, Arlene (Paul) Boles of Fernandina Beach , Gary Lovequist of Yulee , Janis (Tom) Worthington of Fernandina Beach, Laurie (Kevin) Morgan of Fernandina Beach and Amelia Lovequist of Fernandina Beach.
Her husband, Ray C. Lovequist passed in 1970.
Dorothy had seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was known by Dorothy, Dot, Dottie, Mama Dot, Mother, Mom, Aunt, Grandma, G-ma, Great Grandma and Friend.
She worked for the Grand Central Railroad in New York City, Lovequist Construction, The Draft Board for Civil Service and finally retired from US Department of Agriculture Farmers Home Administration in 1991.
Some of her accomplishments were President of the Eight Flags Charter Chapter of ABWA (American Business Women Association) 1974-1975. Dorothy was named Woman of the Year for the State of Florida in 1994, in which she received a prestigious award in Washington D.C.
Dorothy loved everyone and showed her affection by ALWAYS giving you something, a token of love for all she knew. She loved everyone unconditionally.
She will be missed by many as she takes her place in heaven, but we will rejoice when we meet again.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home.
Her family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the hour of service.
She will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
