Dorothy Elizabeth Furr Yount, age 93 of Fernandina Beach, Florida, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

Daughter of the late Roy Lee and Ruth Boswell Furr, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marilyn McCorkle Yount, two brothers, Joseph Boswell Furr and Lee Roy Furr as well as her husband of 65 years, John Milton Yount.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Yount Kenner (Richard), two sons, John McCorkle Yount (Jennifer), Joseph Squires Yount, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

During her lifetime Dorothy was active in Newton, Eden and Greensboro, NC in church and civic leadership positions. She was also a teacher and published poet.

A private graveside service will be held at Eastview Cemetery, Newton, NC.
