My favorite memory of Duane is his patience and caring for young people. He was a dedicated man as Umpire for our Little and Big Leagu baseball. Boys. Always a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. May you RIP Duane you were special to many young men. 🙏🏻😇❤️

Duane H. Schol, 84, stepped into Glory on Sunday, May 4, 2025 after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Schol was born in Morristown; MN as was a son of the late Henry and Phyllis Temple Schol. He moved with his family to Clearwater, FL when he was 15 years old.
He retired from Rayonier after 35 years where he worked in various departments, lastly in the water plant. Mr. Schol was a former member of 5 Points Baptist Church. He was a current and active member of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach.
He enjoyed working in the yard, especially mowing the grass. He loved sports, including the Florida Gators, the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Celtics. He coached and umpired little league baseball when he was younger. He will always be remembered for his love of his family.
In addition to his parents, he also predeceased by his brother, Phillip Schol and a sister, Kay Goodwin.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 65 years, Sherry Schol; his sons, Jeff Schol of Fernandina Beach, Rusty (Dianne) Schol of Statesboro, GA and Scott (Melissa) Schol of Fernandina Beach; his siblings, Corwin of England, Mark of Ocala, Ronnie of Gainesville, Marlyn of Live Oak and a sister, Pat, as well as his grandson, Nathaniel.
A service to remember and celebrate his life will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service.
Rather than flowers, the family asks donations be made, in his memory, to The Nest, A Woman’s Center, 86155 Appaloosa Ave. Yulee, FL 32097 or Signs of Love, A Sign Language Ministry, Signs of Love, 11519 Mountain Meadow Dr. Apple Valley, CA 92308.
