Eare Lois Hall

2026-07-10

Eare Lois Wright Hall, 90, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at Warner Community Hospice, with her daughters by her side.

Born on September 16, 1935, in Axson, Georgia, Eare Lois was the oldest of seven children born to Vilos Wright and Vera Morgan Wright. She was raised on a small family farm, in Axson, and graduated from Atkinson County High School with the Class of 1953.

At the age of 12, she and her siblings experienced the heartbreaking loss of their mother. As the oldest, she helped care for her younger siblings and out of necessity, she learned to cook the wonderful southern meals that she would later serve to her own family.

On Christmas Day in 1954, Eare Lois married the love of her life, Gene Hall, in a story they shared many times with their family. The young couple knocked on the door of the local Justice of the Peace and asked if he would marry them. Though they interrupted his Christmas dinner, he welcomed them into his home and happily performed the ceremony on the most precious day of the year.

She loved her family and friends with all her heart and had lifelong friendships that spanned more than 70 years. One of her favorite pastimes, before her illness, was spending time with her two great-grandchildren, Axel and Camm. Nothing brought her greater joy than having them as neighbors, and seeing them walk through her front door never failed to brighten her day.

She had a remarkable talent for crocheting, as did all three of her sisters. The four of them swapped crochet patterns throughout their lives. She spent countless hours creating beautiful handmade treasures that she shared with family and friends.

She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed old Gospel hymns, especially those sung by The Cady Sisters of Douglas, Georgia. Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church, in Douglas, became her favorite church at an early age and remained her favorite throughout her life.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patti (Sonny) Ryals and Shirley (Rick) Warren. Grandsons Tommy (Molly) Hall, Justin (Jennifer) Ryals, John Hall, Matthew Tucker, Corey (Ashleigh) Hall and Garrett Warren. 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, Eustace Wright and one sister, Barbara Cady. She leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Gene Hall, who passed away in 2002; her children, Eugene Hall, Vera Dianne Marston, and Durand Hall; her grandsons, Franklin Hall and Michael Tucker; her brothers, Leroy Wright and Beecher Wright; and her sisters, Geraldine Fowler and Linda Singletary. She loved and missed each of them and her family finds comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited with them in Heaven.

She will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Directors in Fernandina Beach, Fl. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. The graveside committal will follow at Hughes Cemetery, Yulee, FL.
