Edwin Leonard Byrd, Jr.

2023-05-20

On the morning of May 20, 2023, Edwin Leonard Byrd, Jr., of Amelia Island, Florida died peacefully with his wife by his side.
Eddie was born in Paso Robles, CA in November of 1943 to Edwin Byrd and Helen Konat Byrd. His clients ranged from The University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department to the Republic National Committee to Little League Baseball.
Eddie was a man of many diverse talents who led a fulfilling life. He was a lifelong athlete and sports fan, with a passion for playing tennis, fishing, building puzzles, and rooting for the Washington Nationals. In his retirement, he moved to his paradise, Amelia Island, from Northern Virginia so he could play tennis in the shade of the Live Oak Trees. Eddie was a gifted woodworker who crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture that proudly adorn the homes of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Diana Byrd Laird. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Lee, his daughter Cathy and sons-in-law Art Morgan and Mike Laird; brothers Robert Leo Byrd (Crellin) and James Raymond Byrd; sister Mary Byrd Kelly (Van); grandchildren Carrie Marie Morgan, Alexandra Lee Flory (Dan), Casey Dianna Morgan, Robert Edwin Laird, and Margaret Dorothy Laird; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life and Interment will take place in Alexandria, VA at a later date.
