I first met ella back at neptune beach elementary school we were amazing friends and i remember when she and her family moved away and how i missed my friend. One day our mutual friend alex came to me while i was sitting at a lunch table at yulee middle school and told me there was someone that knows me at his table. I walked over there and i met my friend again ever since then we were still friends and i kept in contact with her until 1 week before rhe accident when life got busy. Ella you were a light in an often too dim world. The brief amount of time we got to know you wasn’t long enough! You were always so happy you and Adrian were some of the first people to find out I was pregnant and I’m so sad you both won’t be able to meet him 😭 we miss you Ella!

Ella is a true friend. I remember all the times we’d just talk for hours about everything going on. Ella always made time for those she loved, and I felt deeply understood by her, my Gemini twin. Our memories will always be held close to my heart and I am forever thankful for Ella and Adrian’s friendship.May God welcome them to his kingdom where they rest peacefully. And may the Lord be with both families spirits and bless them with love and peace.

I’m the younger sister of Britney Bryant and I had the utmost pleasure of meeting and getting to know Ella. She was there, with my sister, for ever obstacle and trial I had faced. She helped me grow as a person and I am forever grateful I was able to know her and call her a friend.

Thank you for all the fun and laughs Ella. Whether it was an early morning boat ride or a night by the fire you always were ready for adventure. I’ll never forget the night I almost got bit by a snake and while I was screaming you came over and hugged me and then helped everyone relocate it. You always made the best of situations. Even though I only knew you a short while, I am grateful for knowing someone like you. Rest in peace.

Ella your time came far too quickly. I can not find the words to describe how much this has impacted our family. You will be sorely missed and we have all shed tears in your memory. You live on with your organ donations to others and you continue to positively impact the world even in death. God rest your soul.

My Ella girl… time sure does fly by. Feels like just yesterday I was burning pizzas with you at 1000 degrees pizza. You were always more than a coworker though, we got along so well during our first shift I knew you’d have an impact on my life. And you did. You changed how I viewed jobs and my work ethic changed because of you. You have a heart of gold and filled any room you entered with your angelic aura. I will miss you so terribly much, but I know you are at peace now with your father. My sincerest condolences to your Mom, Amelia, and the rest of your family as well as Adrian’s. You both were there for me through some very difficult times and I will forever be grateful to have known your kind heart. I’ll see you in heaven beautiful.

Ella was such a light on everyone’s life . Never left anyone’s side no matter the circumstance, and goodness those car jam sessions were the best car rides a girl could have asked for. She will dearly be missed and will forever carry out her legacy and her positive light in this life.

Ella was the most determined, hardworking, and loving person I’ve ever known. She will be missed dearly but her legacy will forever live on. I love her so much and will forever keep her memory alive.

Ella Wynne Phelps, 20 yrs old, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2025, at UF Shands Jacksonville surrounded by her family.
On Dec 28, 2024, Ella and her long-time boyfriend, Adrian Landeros (23), were involved in a motorcycle accident that claimed their lives. Both were wearing helmets and protective riding gear.
Ella was born on June 7, 2004, in Jacksonville, FL to Laran W. Phelps (Higginbotham) and Neil Phelps. She spent her earliest childhood years in Jacksonville Beach, FL. At the age of 5, Ella and her family relocated to Mt Shasta, CA and then to Ashland, OR where they enjoyed a full life of friends and lots of mountain adventures. Ella enjoyed snowboarding, hiking and camping among the picturesque landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.
Ella and her family relocated back to Florida after several years to be closer to family in 2013, at the age of 9. Ella attended Neptune Beach Elementary and, briefly, Fletcher High School. Ella became an active member of the Church of Eleven 22 and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Ella was baptized in a beach ceremony by her father, Neil, and leaders of COE22.
In June of 2017, Ella’s father, Neil Phelps, passed away tragically in a motorcycle accident. Her mother, Laran, relocated the family to the Fernandina Beach / Yulee area and Ella attended Yulee Middle School and Yulee High School. There she excelled in Science and Language Arts, and continued to make many friends.
Ella loved being of service to others and enjoyed helping her father with homeless outreach, making “blessings bags” and distributing food and supplies to the homeless.
Ella was an artist and enjoyed painting and drawing, experimenting with many different medias. She was naturally gifted in art and science. Ella was known for her extensive vocabulary and was very articulate. She loved skateboarding, creating, building, reading, journaling, concerts, festivals, and spending time with her boyfriend and their 4 pets (2 dogs and 2 cats). Ella was a lover and protector. If she loved you, she made it known. She always rooted for the underdogs of the world, the helpless, the needy, the underprivileged. Ella was very hard-working and excelled at every job she ever had and would often end up leading and/or running the place in no time. She was a natural leader with a fierce, honest, kind, and loyal personality.
Ella made long-lasting friendships wherever she went. She left a meaningful impression on people and was a remarkable human being.
Ella leaves behind her devoted mother, Mrs. Laran Phelps-Pullen, beloved sister and best friend, Amelia Phelps, and her adoring and dedicated Stepfather, Thomas Pullen, all of Amelia Island FL; Grandparents Deborah Borthwick (Glenn) of Neptune Beach FL, and Jan Spottswood (Tom) of Murphy NC; Aunt Mrs. Erin Eiras (CJ) of Jacksonville FL, Barry Higginbotham (Stacey) of Yulee FL; as well as dozens of cousins, extended family members, and a huge network of loyal friends.
Ella is preceded in death by her father, Neil Phelps of Neptune Beach and her grandfather James B. “Jim” Higginbotham of Fernandina Beach FL.
A private memorial and celebration of Ella’s life will be held on February 1, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the GoFundMe established to provide support for Ella’s immediate family as they try to go forward and process their grief.
