I only just met Emily from Trivia over the summer, but the chemistry was instant. I thought ,”This chick is cool”, her deliver whether a sarcastic response, reading a question or just regular conversation was truly genius. She was gifted. I love Trivia, but I mostly went to see Justin and Emily. Those two together were pure happiness, and I liked being around them. My favorite memory will be looking back at her during the Weird Al concert in September 2025 ,standing and just seeing her enjoy herself. Her personality came out in so may ways, her style, her wit ,but even just standing enjoying the moment ,she was such a beautiful and lovely woman. She was too young,it happened too fast and it’s not fair. We miss you Emily!

We met Emily, Justin, Larry, and Carolyn at the first Tony's Pizzas Trivia event, we were leaving but Emily convinced us to hang around. Best Decision we ever made. We all became fast friends and closer than some families. We became Trivia 30 Groupies, lol. We weren't very good at it, but three or more times a week, we got to spend our favorite time together with our favorite people! Emily was kind and welcomed everyone with her beautiful smile! We also had some fun adventures away from Trivia; they took us to our first play. And our first Comedy show. Emily will always be my best friend, and Fernandina will be missing an amazing, beautiful person! They introduced us to even more great friends, before Emily and the crew we didn't get out much... They introduced us to The Amazing Catty Shack. I could go on all day about 1 of the most kind unique beautiful honest people I have ever had the privilege of calling my friend Emily Riddle we will see you again someday! And Thank You for allowing us to always tag along on our adventures together! We Love you sis and we are really going to miss you so much!

I used to love how she would handle trivia...cheaters especially she would shut them down and still look like a fairy doing it...

I only knew Emily through trivia but am a regular and have been for years. She will truly be missed. It just won’t be the same without the duo. I’m really sorry for everything I’m sure you’ve gone through Justin. She really was a fixture in the community. Nothing but love!

I will always remember her smile and her sass. She was so fun on trivia nights and we often hung out after to talk about silly questions or answers. Her shoes were always a topic of conversation too. I loved them and her unqiue style. We will miss her and send our love to Justin and family.

Emily Tyler Riddle

2026-03-23

Emily Tyler Riddle, 53, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on March 23, 2026, at Warner Center for Caring after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 19, 1972, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Emily was the daughter of Willard “Buddy” Riddle and Carolyn (Edwards) Riddle. She was known for her love of cats, Barbie dolls, and her quirky sense of style, nearly always in a dress, preferably with pockets.

Before settling in Fernandina Beach in 1996, Emily grew up and spent time across the country, from Georgia to Irvine, California, to El Paso, Texas, and even a few years in the Chicago area during and shortly after college. She graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, in 1994, where she studied communications, unknowingly laying the foundation for what would become her passion and career. In 2010, she and her husband (fiancé at the time), Justin, began hosting trivia together, eventually launching TRIVIA:30 in 2013 into a respected local business and community staple. Emily’s crisp delivery, quick wit, and generally sardonic sense of humor made her a star on the microphone and a favorite among regulars and newcomers alike. Through trivia, she built not just a business, but a community and a network of friends who felt like family.

Emily’s loves included rescuing cats, playing trivia (when she wasn’t hosting), horror movies, true crime podcasts, and live comedy shows, Broadway shows, and concerts. She never missed a chance to see some of her favorite bands, such as Tool, Deftones, and Faith No More, to name a few.

She met her husband, Justin Wentz, in 2007 at The Surf, and their first date came when she invited him to play trivia at Slider’s, an invitation that turned into a lifelong love of both trivia and each other.

Emily is survived by her husband, Justin Wentz; her sister, Leslie Riddle of Hilton Head, South Carolina; her aunts, Susan Wansley of Covington, Georgia, and Jean (Chip) Faircloth of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Willard “Buddy” Riddle, in 2006, and her mother, Carolyn Riddle, in January 2026.

Emily will be remembered for her sharp wit, her unmistakable style, and her thousand expressions, as she could never hide what she was thinking and would have made a terrible poker player. Whether through trivia, laughter, or simply being herself, she left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Rather than flowers, donations may be made to Cat’s Angels, Nassau Humane Society, Catty Shack, or the animal-related charity of your choice.
