Emma Lee May
2022-03-24
Emma Lee May of Palm Coast, Fl passed away peacefully on 3-24-2022 in Woodland Grove Nursery Home at the age of 88. She was born Emma Lee Hauldren on Nov. 11, 1933, in Hamlin West Virginia to Kenneth and Ora Evelyn Hauldren.
She was raised in Sweetland W.V and attended Mercerville High School. She relocated to Cincinnati in 1948 where she met her husband of 65 years, the late Edward (Jack) May. They remained in Cincinnati where they raised 5 children (Eddie, Pam, Denny, Patty, and Susie). Once all children had grown, they relocated to Palm Coast, Florida where they resided until they each passed; Jack in 2014 and Emma in 2022. Besides the 5 children, they leave behind: 15 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great, Great Grandchildren.
Emma became one of the first women in Ohio to become a licensed E.M.T. As a first responder she was responsible for saving many lives in her duties that lasted over 16 years. After moving to Florida, she became a waitress and hostess at several local restaurants. She loved being around people, so this was a perfect fit for her warm and affectionate personality.
She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting and various other crafts which she would lovingly make for family members. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She was an active member of The Church on The Rocks in Bunnell, Florida for many years.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00 on May 7, 2022, at St. George Episcopal Church on Fort George Island. The address is: 10560 Fort George Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32226. The family will receive friends immediately following the Celebration of Life in the St. George Fellowship Hall which is adjacent to the church sanctuary. Interment will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, next to Jack, at a later date.
