Memories

The aviation community of Amelia Island has lost a true Pilots Pilot. The memories he left behind at Falcons Nest are a lasting tribute. The end of an era. RIP .Frank.

Frank was truly a unique person. A long-time captain for American Airlines International; not Shitdomestic. Also a private investigator (with Jill), tennis pro, and gun safety instructor. Always friendly and engaging. A great conversationalist. He was a Do-er. He did things and he lead the charge. Very personable, generous, and fun to be with. In short, he was a really good guy. A voracious reader; but was always doing things out of doors: boating, skiing (alpine and cross-country), tennis, hiking He was always concerned with Jill and his family immediate and extended. He was a wonderful story-teller. I regret not having recorded some of his stories for posterity. Some of my best memories of life are of my wife Bonnie and I visiting Frank and Jill in New Hampshire. So much warmth and fun. I will miss Frank Covie. I will miss the Frank & Jill team. God Bless both Frank and Jill.

The memory of Frank lives on with the many cocktail and dinner parties we had as neighbors. One memory
comes to mind of the time Frank and Jill invited Sherry and I to an afternoon luncheon, horseshoes and a little
target practice. After lunch and cocktails and horseshoes and more cocktails Frank went inside and reappeared with two bottles and a parlor gun. He gently goaded Sherry to see if she could hit one. Sherry took the gun, aimed and fired. One shot, both bottles. None of us knew at the time her father taught her marksmanship at
carnivals as a kid. Sunny days on Jillys Island and many a time spent trying to keep the dogs off the table. My
thoughts are with you Jill, stay well.

I am saddened to hear that Frank has passed. I worked with Frank for a short time and I can say that Frank was a very unique man who had a diligence, focus and honor which is unfortunately rare these days. I will miss our long conversations. I learned from Frank. May God bless you my friend.
