Fredna Doris Holmes

Fredna Doris Boyd Holmes, age 78 of Fernandina Beach passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Warner Center for Caring.
She was born on May 24, 1938 to the late Henry Jackson Boyd and Mary Alene Tabor Boyd Overholt in Conway, TX. The family moved to Yakima, WA, where she grew up.
Doris met Brunswick native, Tim Holmes, at the Seattle State Fair while he was stationed there in the U.S. Army. They were married in Yakima, WA on November 19, 1955 while Tim was still in the Army. Upon her husband being honorably discharged in 1956, they moved to Fernandina Beach where her husband worked for Standard Hardware. During the ensuing years her husband worked as a Shrimp boat Captain for the Tringali, Cook and Bennett families as well as at CCA until retiring in 1997. Mrs. Holmes husband passed away in July of 1997. She was a faithful Fernandina wife and homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Debra Alene Holmes in 1956, twin sister, Edna Lois Van Wey Brown of Fernandina Beach, sister, LaRita Brown of Fernandina Beach, and brothers, Frank Batterson of Oklahoma and James Boyd of Fernandina Beach.
She is survived by her siblings, Keith Sims of Texas and LaRee Stroh of Yulee; her daughter, Sherry LaRee Wilder and son in law, Donald Wilder Jr., of Fernandina Beach, her son, Timothy Edmund Holmes of Fernandina Beach; grandchildren, Sandra Wilder-Healey (Rob) of Fernandina Beach, Heather Wilder-Thomas (Kasey) of Fernandina Beach, Lindsey Michelle Holmes of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Valerie Layne Healey, Lauren Ashley Healey both of Fernandina Beach and Malaki Benton Bunch of Georgia. She also leaves behind a dear best friend and neighbor, Juanita McSwain of Fernandina Beach.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the Burgess Chapel with Pastor Frank Camarotti officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
She will be laid to rest at her husband�s side in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
