Gary Ray Little, 66, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

Gary was born in Floyd County, KY and was the son of the late Raymond Little and Katherine Yates Little.

Gary graduated from Wheelwright High School and soon after, joined the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1974.

For several years he worked for the state of Ohio as groundskeeper and landscaper at a State Hospital. Gary was noted for how well he kept his garden areas and how attractive they were. Gary�s love and appreciation of gardening and the outdoors was always a big part of his life.

After moving to Fernandina Beach in 1991 for a while and then returning some 15 years ago, he always worked outside. From the garden he kept at his sister�s home to hiking the Appalachian Trail, Gary always loved being in and a part of nature.

In addition to his love of the outdoors, Gary loved his family. He loved his sisters, his nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and nephews without reservation. He adored all of his family. From his �left-handed sense of humor� Gary always had some bit of wit, humor and sharp remark to share. Even while he was sick, he gave his family a rock on which he had painted the saying �Never Go Gently�. That summed up much of Gary�s life.

Gary leaves behind his son, Christopher Matthew Nelson of Franklin County, OH; his mother, Katherine Creasy of Greenville, IL; his two sisters, Glenda Little and Patti Castellani, both of Fernandina Beach and his grandchildren, Christian, Taylor, Chace and Sebastian.

There are no local services planned. Gary�s family plans on returning him to his native Kentucky where he will be laid to rest.
