Gayle H. Graddy

Gayle Hornbuckle Graddy, age 63 of Amelia Island, Florida passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.

She was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late Albert Penn Hornbuckle and Lois Marie Clark. Gayle grew up in Decatur, Georgia and graduated from Columbia High School.

Gayle worked for 22 years as an Executive Secretary for Vegco, Inc. a Commodity Brokerage.

In 1998 she married John Buckman Graddy in Atlanta, Georgia and they moved to Fernandina Beach in 2003 after her retirement.

Gayle was an avid traveler, enjoyed walks on the beach, swimming and playing Mah Jong with her friends twice a week.

She was an excellent cook and she loved entertaining her friends and family.

Gayle is preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Curt Fricton.

She leaves behind her husband of 22 years, John B. Graddy of Amelia Island, Florida; her brothers, Bruce Hornbuckle and his wife Lorraine of Fleming Island, Florida, Bill Hornbuckle and his wife Jane of Alpharetta, Georgia; step-sons � Todd Graddy and his wife Susan of Cary, North Carolina and Chad Graddy of Memphis, Tennessee � and three grandchildren, Will, Sara and Jack Graddy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Community Hospice, 1901 Island Walk Way, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034

Due to Covid-19 a memorial service and celebration of Gayle's life will be scheduled at a later date.

Dearest John, My heart breaks for all of us who loved Gayle so much. I will miss her forever. She had the kindest, sweetest heart, always there to understand, offer advice or just listen. She was truly loved and we were truly blessed to have had her in our lives and though I�ve known her since we were kids, it wasn�t long enough. You�ll always be in my thoughts and prayers.
