Condolences:

Irene Basore

Jeanne was such a vital person and wonderful neighbor for many years. I remember going to visit her and Dick and she was sitting in a chair with hand weights beside her doing her exercise for the day. My prayers go out to her family.

Genevieve "Jeanne or Genie" P. Krueger

2024-08-08

Genevieve P. Krueger, known as Jeanne and Genie, was born November 4, 1921, in Middleville, N.Y. to Stephanie Mason Pryce and Chester W. Pryce of Livingston, N.J.

In 1946 she married Richard D. Krueger, a Public Accountant in private practice, in Livingston, N.J. They then moved to Convent Station, N.J. and where the couple welcomed their four sons: Douglas, Richard, William and Kurt.

During her child rearing years, she was active in school and church affairs, having held several officer positions in the P.T.A. She was active in the church Mothers' Guild and participated in fundraising for several charitable organizations, including the Heart Fund and March of Dimes, as well as the church.

As her sons began to leave the nest for college, she started to exercise her entrepreneurial skills. She founded and made a success of three businesses. The first was Bazaar Ten, a boutique specializing in all handcrafted fine jewelry and works of art, including ceramics thrown on the wheel.

After she sold it, she opened Custom Design, a shop catering to an upscale market. If you wanted your family crest woven into a handmade rug, she could provide it. If you wanted the Hippocratic Oath done in illuminated calligraphy, she would make it to order. With the help of her business partners, she could fulfill nearly any request for custom designs.

After she sold that shop, she started Country Herbs. She imported, blended, and sold savory herbs to a national market on a retail and wholesale basis. She operated the business for 15 years in New Jersey. When her husband sold his practice, she sold Country Herbs and together they moved to Amelia Island (Fernandina Beach), FL in 1995. Jeanne became a much-loved member of the Fernandina Beach community. Her memberships included the Amelia Island golf, deep sea fishing, tennis and bridge clubs.

In 2015, she and her husband, Dick, moved to the Indian River Estates retirement community in Vero Beach, FL. There, she easily made many friends, including the staff, who regularly reported on her upbeat attitude, joyful demeanor and boundless energy.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Dick; her parents and her brother, Alvin.

Genevieve leaves behind four beloved sons: Douglas R. (and Janet) of Whispering Pines, NC; Richard E. of Novato, CA; William A. (and Janet) of Vero Beach, FL and Kurt A. of Leesburg, VA. She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

There will be a memorial Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on September 6, 2024 followed by refreshments in the Parish Hall. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery for family and friends.
