George "Pat" Patrick Beamer

2025-01-26

George Patrick Beamer (“Pat”), 79 years old, of Rockville, Maryland passed away on January 26, 2025, in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Pat was born on October 21, 1945, in San Diego, California to the late Francis Xavier Beamer and Frances McClintock Beamer. Pat was the oldest brother of four children, including his siblings the late Frances Michaela Deily; the late John Trahey Beamer, II; and the late Robert Kevin Beamer.

Due to his late father’s military service, Pat grew up in San Diego California; Portsmouth, Virginia; and ultimately Rockville, Maryland. Pat graduated from St. Paul’s Central High School in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1963. Pat then entered college at the Naval Academy, graduating with a B.S. in Naval Science in 1967.

After graduating, Pat entered active military service with the United States Navy, where he remained until his honorable retirement as a Captain in 1993. In the course of his military service, Pat earned many distinctions and medals – including a Legion of Merit with a gold star, a Meritorious Service Medal, and several Navy Unit Commendations.

While still in the Navy, Pat received his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1975. He later returned to school at the United States Naval War College, from which he received a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies in 1986. The Navy was Pat’s passion and life’s work; after retirement from active military service, Pat was a member in several Veterans Service Organizations in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, where Pat will be laid to rest. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 54, 626 South Third Street, Fernandina Beach, Florida, 32034 from 2 to 4 p.m.
