George C. Norman

Mr. George Carl Norman, age 89, formerly of Decatur, IL and Maynardville, TN passed away on Monday afternoon, March 27, 2017 at Quality Healthcare in Fernandina Beach, FL.
Born in Decatur, IL, he was the son of the late George Carl and Zella Scroggins Norman Sr. He grew up in Decatur where he attended Decatur High School. After high school he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. Upon being honorably discharged he returned home and began a long career working in the Telecommunications Industry. In 1955 he and his wife founded Norman Tower Antenna Specialists in Decatur. They owned and operated this business until 2006. Mr. Norman was an avid outdoorsman and had made an annual fishing trip to Lake Norris near Knoxville, TN every year for many years; the week following Christmas leading up to New Years Day. In 1994 Mr. and Mrs. Norman moved to Maynardville, TN; to his fishing paradise. The Normans lived in Maynardville until moving to Yulee, FL in 2013, to be near their daughter. Since settling in Nassau County, FL he had been a familiar face at the Nassau County Council on Aging.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two daughters, Linda King and Tammy Norman.
Mr. Norman leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Patricia �Pat� Lindsey Norman, their children, John Norman (Marsha), Estero, FL, Cheryl Tiggelaar (Jacob), Pequot Lakes, MN, Tina Kisner (Scott), Callahan, FL, Michael Norman (Jody), Washington, IL, a brother, Eugene (Evelyn) Norman, Decatur, IL, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeast FL, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257
