George P. Ulik

Mr. George Paul Ulik, age 93, of Fernandina Beach, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2017 at the Warner Center for Caring.

He was born in Milwaukee, WI on December 19, 1923 one of seven children born to the late Leo and Clara Sieracki Ulik.

He graduated from the Army Air Corps Cadet�s Training Program and flew B-17 bombers during WWII. After the war, he worked for Olin Corporation as a corporate pilot. George met his wife, the former Dorothy Schrieber, in her hometown of Union City, New Jersey. After their marriage, which would last some 64 years, George and Dorothy made their home and raised their family in Mahwah, New Jersey.

George and his wife, Dorothy, retired to Fernandina Beach in 1985 moving from Sherman, Connecticut. Over the years he enjoyed many hobbies. From woodworking, including carving and constructing furniture, to working with stained glass and painting George was always creating. He also loved boating. George was known to take to the water in one of the several boats he owned over his lifetime. He even enjoyed model boats. George was a member of the Lemonade Boys Golf Club and a local model boat sailing club.

He was an usher for St. Michael�s Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach for many years and then attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission in Yulee.

George predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Ulik, who passed away February 6, 2014.

He leaves behind his daughters; Jayne Dickson of Wantage, NJ, Nancy Demchuk and her husband, Edward, of Fernandina Beach, FL, Suzanne Kilpatrick and her husband, John, of Patagonia, AZ and a grandson, Ryan Kilpatrick of Birmingham, AL.

He will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
