I was sad to hear that my friend Gerri had passed. Although I had not seen or heard from her for years I still remember our time with the young girls at five points, and now they have young girls. My love and thoughts are with all the family.

Geraldine Nettles Haddock Weaver of Yulee, Florida passed away on Saturday, May 17th, at
the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Gerri, born on April 3rd, 1933, was the oldest daughter of David and Sallie Nettles in Hilliard,
Florida. Soon after her birth, the family relocated to Fernandina Beach and eventually
made their home on South 8th Street.
Gerri attended Fernandina Beach High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and
spending time with friends and family.
After high school, one of her first jobs was as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell in
the Fernandina oice. While working at a local restaurant, she met & later married Ira
Fleming Haddock of Hilliard/Kings Ferry, Florida in 1951. Years after Ira’s death in 1964, she
married JK “Butch” Weaver. Together they raised their three sons – Steve Haddock, Dean
Haddock and Wayne Weaver. Upon Butch’s death in 1982, she & her sons relocated to
Eufaula, Alabama. While there she worked as an assembler & oice personnel at Hughes
Missile Electronics.
In 1996, she moved back to Nassau County where she spent many years as a professional
nanny to several local doctors and as a caregiver to adults as well. Once she finally retired
around the age of 84, she enjoyed spending time outdoors & traveling, always on the
lookout for a red bird, her favorite to see. When at home, she loved doing word search &
Sudoku puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and playing dominos or cards with family. Whenever she
was inside, she always had a puzzle or deck or cards nearby.
Gerri was preceded in death by her parents David & Sallie Nettles of Fernandina Beach; her
brother-in-law, Dave Beavers, of Eufaula, Alabama; her brother, Colin Nettles, & sister-inlaw,
Lois Nettles, of Yulee, Florida and her sister, Shirley N. King, of Yulee, Florida.
She is survived by her 3 sons – Steve Haddock of Yulee, Florida, Dean Haddock (Lisa) of
Yulee, Florida, Wayne Weaver (Tracy) of Hilliard, Florida; grandchildren Craig Haddock,
Trevor Haddock, Trent Haddock, Lexi Weaver, Landon Weaver and Haley Conner; great
grandchildren Avery Haddock, Gavin Haddock, Laney Carter, Killian Conner and Cullen
Conner and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews who she loved like they
were own.
After being a caregiver for most of her life, we are beyond blessed & thankful that she is now
being cared for in the House of our Lord. She will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved
her.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 31st, at 11 AM at the Bosque Bello Cemetery
in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
