Mrs. Helen was such a beautiful soul. I am honored to have met such a sweet spirit. I remember going to her house several summers in highschool and even after to just relax with Erika. She made us shrimp and noodles. Her house and her presence was so peaceful and kind. She was always there for her family. She attended all the birthday parties and family events. She will be so dearly missed. Praying for the whole family during this difficult time. I love you all.

Ray and Lucy Godbee

Helen Betty Boyle

2025-09-10

Helen Betty Boyle (née Cannon), 86, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Born on October 12, 1938, in Ocala, Florida to the late Willis Cannon and Jane Gill. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. Helen married the love of her life Robert Frank Boyle (Bobby) in 1964. They would go on to raise 5 children and were married 49 years until his death.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. When her kids were older, she went back to school to receive her R.N. degree. She worked as registered nurse until her retirement.

Throughout her life, Helen was a woman of deep faith and devotion. She was devoted to the rosary as a source of strength. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic for over 50 years and most recently St. Michaels Catholic church, where she found a spiritual community and strength.

Helen found joy in finding loving gifts to celebrate seasons, sacraments, birthdays, graduations and dance recitals. Her potato and shrimp salad were family favorites. She had a knack for giving the perfect card covered with stickers and always wrapped the prettiest packages. Her second love was the hills of Tennessee. She was in awe of the mountains and beautiful autumn leaves.

Her journey from Ocala to Jacksonville and eventually to Fernandina Beach marked a life rooted in Florida, filled with enduring connections and meaningful experiences. Those who knew her will remember her presence within the church communities she cherished.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband Bobby, Willis Cannon (father), Jane Gill (mother), Sybil Cannon (stepmother), Danny Cannon (brother), Mark Cannon (brother) and special daughter in love Nancy Boyle.

She leaves behind 5 children, Alan (Penny), Kelly (Chris), Robby, Scott (Vicky) and Kim. 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great- Grandchildren, 1 furry grandchild, sisters Virginia, Charlotte, Billie and Christy along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Oxley-Heard Funeral home Wednesday, September 17 from 5-7 in Fernandina Beach. Funeral will be Thursday September 18 at 12:30 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach. Burial following immediately at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.

Rather than flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
