Hilda Elizabeth Herman

2021-09-04

Hilda Elizabeth Herman, 100, of Fernandina Beach passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Warner Center for Caring.

Born in Macon, GA she was the daughter of the late Joe and Stella Nicholson Herman.

She spent most of her early life in Macon until moving to Miami, Florida where she lived until she relocated to Fernandina Beach 16 years ago to be nearer friends and family. Mrs. Herman enjoyed travelling and had travelled quite a bit in the United States.

She was a homemaker. She was also an avid reader and since moving to Fernandina Beach and living at Savannah Grand Assisted Living Facility, she walked the beach as often as she could until her health prevented her from walking there anymore.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Herman in 1972.

She leaves behind her daughter, Sandra Carr of Ponte Vedra, Beach as well as her granddaughter, Cristina Griffin and great grandson, Kenan Griffin. She also leaves behind the extended Carr family who was a big part of her life. The Jim Thomas family is like family to her as well. She and Ann Thomas were close friends when they all lived in Macon Georgia. Linda Armstrong, Brenda Wall and Beth McDonald were very important to her.

She always appreciated all of the staff at Savannah Grand as well.

Services for Mrs. Herman will be held on what would have been her 101st birthday, 2:00 pm October 13, 2021 at Savannah Grand with Chaplain Jackie Hayes officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran, GA.
