Hilton Curtis Wilder, Sr.

Hilton Curtis Wilder, Sr., 71, of Fernandina Beach passed away at his home Saturday, April 28, 2018 after a lengthy illness.
A Fernandina Beach native, he lived his entire life here. He was a son of the late Arren O. Wilder and Agnes Cook Wilder.
Growing up in a large family he learned to fish and �mechanic�. His skill as a fisherman was well known. He loved to fish and is remembered as a �Great Fisherman�. He was an expert mechanic and could fix anything with a motor, whether it was a car, a truck, a lawn mower or a boat.
Over the course of their 53 year marriage with his wife, NethaDean King Wilder, they would raise a daughter and two sons and see their family grow to include four grandchildren, four great grandchildren with a fifth great grandchild expected soon. Mere words cannot describe how much he loved his family and how much he was loved by them.
Curtis� quick wit and sense of humor insured there was never a dull moment. His family lovingly recalled you never knew what to expect from him. Because of his sense of humor and is ability to �shoot the bull with the best of them�, he always had a surprise waiting that was guaranteed to provide laughter and entertainment.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by two brothers, �Little� Arren Wilder and Delton Albert Wilder.
Curtis is survived by his wife, NethaDean; a daughter, Sandee Dean Wilder; two sons, Hilton Curtis (Kimberly) Wilder, Jr. and Waylon Clayton Wilder all of Fernandina Beach; his mother, Agnes Wilder of Fernandina Beach; two sisters, Shirley (Bill) Rutherford of Morganton, NC and Ann (Hal) Parker of Fernandina Beach; four grandchildren, Jenna Johnson, Wesley Wilder, Isaac Irvin and Preston Wilder; four great grandchildren, Jadyn Young, Alyssa Smith, Ella Smith and Arya Smith as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends.
His family will receive friends at Oxley Heard Funeral Directors Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Director. His longtime friend, Gerald McKendree will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Wilder Cemetery.
