Homer Raewan Rowe

Homer Raewan Rowe (Rae) age 78, of Ponte Vedra, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Jacksonville, FL.

Rae was born in Savannah, GA on September 7, 1946 to the late Homer Rowe and Nora Henderson Rowe. A year later, he moved with his parents to Fernandina Beach and grew up there, graduating from Fernandina Beach High School in 1964. He enjoyed playing on the Pirates football team.

Rae served in the Air Force 1967-1971, in Air Traffic Control, 1 year in Thailand, 3 years in London (where he met his wife, Teresa.) He returned to Fernandina in 1971.
He was employed at Rayonier in Fernandina for 48 years, which he enjoyed in the Machine Room, and had a goal of working 50 years there, but retired several years ago.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Rowe of 40 years, and his brother, Terry, who passed away in 2024.

Rae leaves behind his wife of 13 years, Galina Nazarova Rowe (native of Russia) of Ponte Vedra FL; stepdaughters, Lisa Fine of Yulee and Alla Nazarova of Jacksonville; step grandchildren, Amanda Russell Talley of Mineral Wells, TX; Ryan Rowe of Callahan, FL; Jessica Fine-Barnes of Callahan, FL; Jacob Jones of Jacksonville, FL; one step great-granddaughter, a sister, Kathy Rowe Phillips of Jesup, GA; niece, Laura Phillips Wasdin of Statesboro, GA and nephew, Rob Phillips of Stallings, NC.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Wednesday, May 7th at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Arnold officiating, visitation one hour prior to service.

He will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
