Ivalee Whitehead Hamilton

2020-10-06

Ivalee Whitehead Hamilton, age 97 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center-Nassau.

Ivalee was born on November 27, 1922 in Gainesville, Florida to the late Ivan and Perrylee Collins Whitehead.

Ivalee and her sister, Reba grew up on a large plot of land where their father raised cattle. He hired a young man named Jeff Hamilton to help with the cattle. Jeff would prove to be an excellent choice, not only did he help with the livestock, but he would help fix things around the house. Ivalee and Jeff would later fall in love and marry on December 26, 1941. Jeff served honorably in the Army for four years during World War II.

Ivalee and Jeff moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida where Jeff was employed by Container Corporation of America for 39 years. Together they raised their children Marsha and Michael in a Godly home.

Ivalee was described by her daughter Marsha as a precious, loving & Godly mother and she and her husband did a wonderful job of raising their children.

She was an active and longtime member of Memorial United Methodist Church for many years until her declining health kept her at home. The "Ivalee Hamilton Circle" was named after her by the wonderful Methodist Church women.

Ivalee is preceded in death by her parents in 1984; her husband, Junior Jefferson Hamilton in 2003; her son, Michael Jefferson Hamilton in 2016 and her sister Reba Whitehead Gilbert in 2016.

She leaves behind her daughter, Marsha H. Carman and her husband Bob; Nieces, Kay G. Shea, Sue G. Davis, Len G. Capote and their families; Cousins, LaVerne, Sam, Kevin, Greg Hamilton and their families as well as Ruth John Givens, Linda Sapp, Kathryn Roberts Learn, Ken Karl, Keith Roberts and their families. She will also be missed by the Collins, Justice, Whitehead and Yates families and Ivalee's adopted families, Jean, Betty and Donna Landress, Laura, Lottie, Chris Lathrop and their families.

Her family wishes to thank everyone for being part of their mother's life.

A private family graveside service will be held in Bosque Bello Cemetery with Pastor Mark "Charlie" Charles officiating.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Memorial United Methodist Church, 601 Centre Street, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034

Marsha I am so sad to hear this news. Your mom was a special lady. She was a good neighbor and her love was always showing in things she did. All of you were so good to me when I moved across the street as a young bride. I felt the love and her and your dad and you and Michael were family. I love this picture of your mom and dad.
