J. Craig Duey

Mr. J. Craig Duey, age 88 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Duey was born on July 14, 1927 in Galena, Missouri one of four children born to the late Ralph and Clara Craig Duey. He was a graduate of Zephyrhills High School. Mr. Duey served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and received his Honorable Discharge in 1946. He attended Georgia Tech and was employed at Rayonier in Fernandina and retired in 1986 after 30 years of service as a Project Engineer. He soon began work for the City of Fernandina Beach as a Building Inspector and later as Grant Administrator. He was very proud of raising funds for the bird sanctuary in Egans Creek Greenway and the remodel of the Peck Center. Mr. Duey was also the owner of Pet Stop and Sinfully Wicked Exotic Pets in Callahan which he opened in 1995.

Along with his parents, Mr. Duey was preceded in death by his wife Anne Britt Duey in July 2014 and his brother William Duey.

He leaves behind his daughter, Amy Duey-Dodge and her husband Joe of Fernandina Beach, FL. His sisters Gretchen Link and her husband Larry of New Jersey and Patricia Smith of Kissimmee FL. His two grandchildren, Danielle Dodge and Joseph C. Dodge II.
