Jack Gregory Chirikjian

Dr. Jack Gregory Chirikjian of Washington, DC passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in 1940 in Cairo, Egypt to Armenian parents, he immigrated to The United States in 1959 where he achieved the quintessential American Dream and was a proud patriot of his adoptive country.
He was a Professor of Biochemistry at Georgetown University for 46 years where he touched the lives of countless students, won numerous awards and his capstone achievement was establishing the Masters in Biotechnology Program. He was also a successful entrepreneur, founding biotechnology companies spanning both education and research.
He fought valiantly against an aggressive form of metastatic cancer for over two and a half years, having been expected to live for less than a third of that time.
He leaves behind his wife, Marjorie, of 54 years, sons Gregory, Mark and Jeff, siblings Annette Nurnberger and Simon Chirikjian, six grandchildren and four nieces.
Dr. Chirikjian will be laid to rest in St. Peter�s Episcopal Cemetery in Fernandina Beach after a private family service.
