Jack Murphy McKendree, Sr.

Mr. Jack M. McKendree, Sr., age 86, longtime resident of Yulee, Florida passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020, at Baptist Medical Center, Nassau, Fernandina Beach, FL., 32034

Mr. Jack, born on March 24, 1934 in Yulee, Florida, was the youngest of nine siblings to the late Crawford A. Sr., and Clemmie C. McKendree. He resided in the Yulee area and graduated from the Yulee school system in 1952. Mr. Jack joined the United States Army in July 1954 and was stationed at Fort Eustis, VA., serving in an active duty capacity until June 1956. In 1957, Mr. Jack was employed by the United States Postal Service, resulting in a life-long career serving the Nassau and Duval counties for 32 years; ultimately retiring in March 1989.

Mr. Jack was a very active and longtime member of Blackrock Baptist Church where he served in multiple capacities; most noteworthy was the young adult�s Sunday school teacher and the service�s song director.

He was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Jack leaves behind his wife Betty S. McKendree, Yulee, FL, three sons, Jack M. McKendree, Jr., Phoenix, AZ., Daniel (Tina) L. McKendree, Fernandina Beach, FL., Tony (Tammy) L. McKendree, Yulee, FL., one grandson, Joshua D. McKendree, Yulee, FL., one granddaughter Ashleigh N. McKendree, Yulee, FL., one great granddaughter, Charleigh J. Anderson, Yulee, FL., and numerous nieces and nephews. His grandson, Christopher L. McKendree, preceded him in death on November 12, 2017 at the age of 35.

Those desiring may make donations in his memory to Blackrock Baptist Church, 96362 Blackrock Road, Yulee, Florida 32097

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Blackrock Baptist Church.

His family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the church

He will be laid to rest in Hughes Cemetery

I am so very sorry to hear about Jack�s passing. He was our mailman when I was growing up and we lived on Florida Avenue and then he was my Postmaster when I moved to Yulee. What an awesome guy. He will never be forgotten. God bless you all.
