Jackie Cook
2020-07-02
Jackie Cook, 67 of Fernandina Beach passed away at home surrounded by loved ones Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
Jackie, the daughter of Rev. Jack and Ina Williams Guest, was born April 19, 1953 in Jacksonville FL. In 1958 Reverend Guest moved the family to Callahan where he pastored the Callahan Church Of God. In 1965 Jackie began playing piano for her father. In 1969, the Guest moved to Fernandina Bch, FL where Jackie continued to play and sing for Reverend Jack and numerous other Pentecostal pastors for a sum of 30 years. Jackies style of piano playing would sooth the spirit one moment and move you to praise in the next.
Jackie attended school in Callahan thru the 10th grade at which time she sadly left her school mates and moved with her family to Fernandina Beach where she attended Fernandina Beach High School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1971.
In her early working career she worked as a Dental Assistant of Dr. Robert Johnson. She enjoyed the work and loved to interact with the public. In 1979 Jackie married Bobby Cook, three years later a son Jeb Cook was born. In 1985 she decided to stay at home to enjoy raising her son Jeb. A choice she was always happy with. She was a southern cook. Her food was always the best. She made sure there was enough for everyone, even the unexpected visitor.
Jackie loved being outdoors, she turned better times in cars set up for drag racing than the guys building them, spent the first two years of marriage touring the Gulf Of Mexico on a shrimp boat, would fish in a creek or the ocean, camping was a must and not owning a boat just would not do. During all of these experiences she always loved and feared the Lord.
Above all else Jackie loved her family, especially her grandson, Jake and she had a special relationship with her daughter in law Michelle.
In addition to her parents Jackie was preceded by her brother, William Bill Guess.
She leaves behind her husband of nearly 41 years, Bobby Cook, son Jeb Cook, wife Michelle and their son Jake; Brother in law Ronnie Cook wife Lisa, Marty Cook wife Debbie, Allen Mills; Sister in law Wendy (Cook) Lannon husband Robert, Danone (Cook) Boyken husband Calvin. In addition to her immediate family she leaves behind an extended family of cousins from Lake City, Live Oak, Welburn and Branford Florida.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 6, 2020 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor Larry Osburn officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Green Pine Cemetery.

Bobby, I am so sorry for loss. We are so sad we cannot attend the services. My husband has just been told he has cancer. We have been trying to stay in as much as possible because of Covid 19, but he has to go to so many appointments it is hard to do that. Just know that you and your family is in my prayers.

Dear Jackie, Im so sorry I wasnt there the day the Angels came to take you home. But I know you werent scared, you had told me you were ready. I know you have already seen your mama and daddy and brother Bill. I know it was a happy joyous reunion, no more pain and suffering, just love and smiles. Please tell me that you and Peggy have been dancing up and down those streets of gold..give mama a hug and kiss for me and tell her I love and miss her very much. Im gonna miss our many talks, youve been a great friend to me, one ill never forget. We may go a few days, weeks, or months, but we would always pick up right where we left off, and know we were only a phone call away. You are in no more pain now. Youve done your time here on earth, you have been through enough. I will miss you my dear friend. I love you, and yes I have the last word, I LOVE YOU MORE, and I will see you on the other side.

Bobby and family, I am so very sorry. Jackie was always a real friend to me and I just loved her so much. Her brother Bill spent a lot of time with me at the hospital when my husband Richard was passing away and we prayed a lot together. I know now that she is with him and her parents and is that peace. She will be forever missed by everyone because she was the most amazing lady I had ever met in my life. I am praying that you find comfort in the Lord. God bless you all.
