Jacklyn Elizabeth Howard

2026-08-16

Jacklyn Elizabeth Howard, age 88, of Fernandina Beach, was reunited with our Lord on August 16, 2026.

Born in Fernandina Beach in 1937 to the late Ann and Bernard Riley. She was a graduate of Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 1955, and went on to work as a preschool teacher.

She married the love of her life, Everett Howard. Following Everett’s honorable discharge from the United States Navy, the couple lived in California and Pennsylvania before returning to their beloved hometown of Fernandina Beach. Together, they opened Classic Carpets in 1986 and were active members of the Terpsichorean Dance Club and St. Michael Catholic Church. They shared 56 years of marriage before Everett was called home to the Lord.

Jackie cherished her Bible and never stopped sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ. She was more than a wife, mother, and Granny; she was the life of the party, the spark that ignited joy in every encounter. She was the glue that held her family together—a steady, calm presence who could wrap you in comfort like a blanket and make you feel that everything would be okay.

With her infectious smile and joyful laughter, she had a gift for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Jackie is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Everett Howard; her parents; and 7 of her 8 siblings who preceded her in death.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love to be cherished by her children: Everett “Gene” Howard Jr. and Denise Kublbock (John), her cherished grandchildren: Carla Smith (James), Chris Kublbock (Meredith) Trey Kublbock (Anna), Garrett and Cale Howard, her treasured great-grandchildren: Jayce, Kallen, Knox, Everly, Aubrey, Noah, Brayden, Miles and her brother, Dan Riley. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

While our hearts ache with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Jackie now rests peacefully in the arms of her Savior, reunited with the love of her life and surrounded by the eternal promise of her faith.

Mrs. Howard’s family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home and a mass at St Michael's Church on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11:00AM. She will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
