Jacob Anthony Bukovskey
2017-08-22
Jacob Anthony Bukovskey, 80, of Fernandina Beach passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center Nassau. A son of the late Andrew and Anna Marie Olish Bukovskey, he was born in Fulton Run, Pennsylvania where he was raised. After high school he served his country in the U. S. Air Force.
In 1959 Mr. Bukovskey married the love of his life, Lula Clawson, and they begin a marriage which would last over 58 years. Through those years, not only would he be her husband but her dance partner. She said he was the greatest dance partner, ever!. Together with Lula, they would raise three children and see their family grow to include seven grandchildren. Besides dancing, Jacob loved golf and until his health prohibited his playing, he was regularly on the course. His other delight was cooking. He made the best chili in the world and despite many attempts, no one in the family could ever best him with their own version of chili. His reputation as a perfectionist, no doubt, helped him with that chili recipe.
Also, in 1959 Mr. Bukovskey began a career with the Federal Aviation Administration that would last over 30 years. During those years he was on the boards as a controller for over 20 years. After 10 years as a controller, he worked as a computer programmer for 10 years before returning to his role as a controller. He spent his career at the Washington Air Traffic Control Center in Leesburg, VA.
After retirement he and his wife moved to Fernandina Beach and resided there for 16 years. In Fernandina Beach he continued to enjoy cooking for family and friends. Mr. Bukovskey will always be remembered as a generous and loving man. He loved all of his family and as most grandfathers do, he adored his grandchildren.
Mr. Bukovskey leaves behind his family in Fernandina Beach including his wife, Lula; their son, Gary Bukovskey and his wife, Lorie and his special grandchildren, Michael and Brooke Bukovskey. He also leaves behind a son, David Bukovskey and his wife, Angie, of Virginia and a daughter, Debora Bukovskey Houser and her husband, Steve, of Pennsylvania, as well as grandchildren, Lauren and Noel Bukovskey and Megan, Erika and Colby Houser.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel with Fr. Jose Kallukallam officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Mr. Bukovskey will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
The family asks that you remember Mr. Bukovskey by memorials, in his name, to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692
His family wishes to express their most heartfelt thanks to the Physicians, Nurses and Staff of the ICU at Baptist Medical Center Nassau for the many kindnesses in caring for him and their family.
