James "Jim" Edward Adams
2025-04-23
James “Jim” Edward Adams 62, of Fernandina Beach passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at his home.
Born in Pittsburgh, Jim was a son of the late James W. and Alice Jeane Berry Adams. He grew up in Pittsburgh and always loved his hometown.
He graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and worked for many years in the Insurance Benefits industry. Jim’s career included working at Protective Benefits where he was a Sales Executive.
Jim had made his home in Fernandina Beach some 20 years ago, moving from Pittsburgh. He was affectionately known as “Big Jim” among his friends. Jim valued his relationship with his friends and enjoyed spending time with them whether it was playing golf, enjoying a good cigar or just “hanging out”. He had a big heart and was always smiling. He was an avid sports fan and of course, being from Pittsburgh, he was always supported the Steelers, the Penguins and the Pirates. He was also a bit of a history buff.
He leaves behind his sister, Alice Ann Adams of Pittsburgh; his brother, Charlie Adams and his wife, Nancy, of Avon, OH; a niece and nephew, whom he dearly loved, Ava and Grayson Adams; an aunt, Mary Ellen Banks; as well as his cousins, Jeanne Ellen Bacon, Susan Beebe and Jennifer Kortyna and a close family friend, Diane Witt.
His family would like to thank his friends, neighbors, cigar buddies, golf companions and Peggy for all of their love and support over the years.
There are no plans for a local service but Jim’s family is planning a celebration of his life in his hometown of Pittsburgh later this summer.
