James A. Warren, Jr.

2026-02-22

James A. Warren, Jr., of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital.

Born on August 6, 1947, in Lyons, Georgia, Jim was the son of the late James A. Warren Sr. and Madelyn Gillis Warren. He was raised in Brunswick, Georgia, and graduated from Glynn Academy in 1965. He went on to earn a degree in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 1968, he married Jane Condon Warren and began building both his career and his family.

Jim started his professional life working alongside his uncle at Adrian Housing Company in Adrian, Georgia. His career later took him to Garan, Inc., where he lived in Fort Payne, Alabama; Ozark, Arkansas; and Chandler, Oklahoma. While in Chandler, Jim co-founded R & W Apparel before relocating to Winchester, Tennessee. Eventually, he returned to Georgia, where he owned and operated two Sonic franchises. He concluded his professional career with the Nassau County Emergency Management Program. In retirement, he made his home on Amelia Island, enjoying the coastal community he loved.

Lovingly known as “Big Guy” by his grandchildren and family, Jim valued time with loved ones above all else. Fellowship, good food, and spirited conversation brought him great joy. In his later years, he especially enjoyed cooking and became well known for his cream corn and chili. A devoted supporter of Georgia Tech athletics, Jim faithfully followed Yellow Jackets football.

Jim is survived by his wife, Candece Glauser Tierney of Fernandina Beach, Florida; his son Trey Warren (Inga) of Fernandina Beach; his daughter Amy Warren (John) French of Fairhope, Alabama; and his grandchildren Emma Jane Warren Hitpas, Livi Warren, James Warren IV, Tillery French, and John French. He also shared a close and loving bond with Candece’s daughter Vesper (Joe) Potter and grandchildren Tierney (Travis) Blucher, Kylie Coulter, Hunter Coulter, and Winter Potter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach, Florida, with a light reception to follow in the youth building.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Oak Conservation and St. Peters Episcopal Church.
