James C. Dubberly, Sr.

With much sorrow, the family of James Colson Dubberly announce his passing on December 5, 2021 at 86 years old.
Dad was born March 19, 1935 and was graduated from FBHS in 1953. He went to work for Rayonier but after a couple of years dad felt the calling to join the United States Air Force, which he served for 21 years, at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, GA and Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC. Dad also served 2 tours in Vietnam during that conflict. Our family is grateful for all the veterans who have served in Military Service and for those who continue to do so.
After completing his military service, Dad returned to Fernandina and worked another 20 years for Rayonier.
Dad is predeceased by his parents, Colson and Myrtle Dubberly, his “other mother”, Luvelia Johns Dubberly; his brothers and sister, Frank Dubberly, Eugene Johns, Nolan Johns, and Jerome Johns Strickland and the Love of his Life, wife, Betty Dorminey Dubberly.
Dad is survived by his children, Deborah Councill (Mike), Valencia Gower (Jim), and Jimmy Dubberly (Laura); his six grandchildren, Stacey Councill Dabruzzi (Tony), Aja Gower, Chelsea Dubberly Eccles (James), Lauren Dubberly, Corey Rowland, and Kenneth Rowland; his five great-grandchildren, Matteo Dabruzzi, Gabriele Dabruzzi, James Eccles, V, Penelope Eccles, and Riker Colson Eccles.
The family welcomes you to a visitation at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home on Thursday, December 9th from 5-7 pm. Funeral service will be graveside at Bosque Bello Cemetery with Military Honors on Friday, December 10 at 11 am.
