James Duewel

Mr. James Louis �Jim� Duewel, age 69, of Amelia Island, Florida, passed away on Easter Sunday morning, March 27, 2016 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach.

Born in Elgin, Illinois, he was the younger of two sons born to the late Louis Martin Duewel and Mabel Charlotte Swain Duewel. Jim grew up in Elgin where he was a graduate of Elgin High School, class of 1965. After high school, he attended Bradley University in Peoria, where he graduated with his Bachelor�s Degree in Business Administration. Upon returning home to Elgin, Jim began a long career in the banking industry that started and concluded in his hometown. He began as a teller at the First National Bank of Elgin where he advanced until retiring as Branch President of the National Bank of Detroit in Elgin in the late 1990s.

After retiring, Jim made his home at The Amelia Island Plantation on Amelia Island, Florida.

Mr. Duewel possessed a very strong commitment to his Christian faith and beliefs. He read voraciously and kept an elaborate and extensive library of books and recordings of Christian-based topics and doctrine. He was a writer and collector of other�s thoughts on faith-based theology. Mr. Duewel supported the ministry and outreach programs of his home church, Grace Evangelical Church of Elgin. He opened his home to visiting missionaries and shared his library and other resources with like-minded servants of his God. He was an active member of the Amelia Baptist Church on Amelia Island.

He was a fan of the Chicago professional sports teams.

Mr. Duewel leaves behind his brother, Jerry and his wife, Cindy of Saint Johns, Florida.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 6:00 � 7:00 pm in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard where a service will be held at 7:00 pm with his pastor, Neil Helton, officiating.

Further services will be held in his hometown of Elgin, Illinois on Saturday, April 2, 2016 as Mr. Duewel is laid to rest beside his parents in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee, IL.
