James E. DeBoyd

James E. DeBoyd, 83, of Yulee passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at UF Health North in Jacksonville.

Born in in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Floyd and Ada Sampson DeBoyd.

Through the years Mr. DeBoyd had worked in several occupations including being a welder and a truck driver.

In his later years he used his musical talents and his guitar to entertain and bring the Gospel to nursing home residents and various fund raisers. He was also a part-time preacher and a longtime member of Community Baptist Church in Yulee.

He enjoyed fishing and shrimping and he dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his children, David and Ray DeBoyd and David Edward Collins, Joyce Moody and Janet Collins, a sister, Dorothy Sparks and a brother, Johnny DeBoyd.

He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Ruby Wise DeBoyd of the home; his children, Debbie (Robert) McDaniel of Middleburg, Donald DeBoyd of Middleburg, James (Melody) Woods of Lake Butler, Penny (Lonnie) Starling of Keystone Heights and Diane (Kirby) Davis of Kings Mountain, NC; a sister, Sue Mosley of Doctors Inlet as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. DeBoyd will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor Carl Lindsey officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM.

He will be laid to rest at Hughes Cemetery in Yulee.
